Christmas Icecream Cake HIT!

This cake is very easy and quick to make and can last for

2 months in the freezer..

You Need: Favourite flavoured ice cream

Chocolate flavoured sponge rolls

Plastic wrap

and a round bowl!

Simply add the plastic wrap inside the bowl

Cut up sponges and cover the inside of the plastic

Freeze for 1/2 hour

Take out and place the soft ice cream inside: Squish down

and then add the sponges on the top

Then cover the base with the sides of the plastic wrap

Freeze overnight or when the ice cream gets hard

Waaahhhhllaaaahhhhhh

I bought these Chinese lanterns about 1 month ago, ready for Chrissie.

Today I went outside to get them from the courtyard

and they had been wet somehow?

The black coloured ones had run into the green.

Thinking.... I would just throw them out

A great idea sprung to mind and I started thinking... what about glitter?

Finding glitter so close to Christmas was a mission, but I went to Spotlight

shop here in Perth and found some green glitter containers left! yahhh

Spray with adhesive acid free glue

Make sure that you have a container ready for the excess

glitter and re-apply again and again!

And keep switching between the two..

I ran out of glitter and wasn't going back to the shop.

I think they look nice the way they are.

You could cover them totally...

I think it's just adorable...I'm putting gingerbread face biscutts in it for my niece and nephews, and my two rat bags!

5 Days of Christmas Goodie Idea's

Over the next few days I will be making a few different Christmas goodies.

I will share all my goodies here with u guys before Christmas Day!

Which is actually in 5 days time..so I better get cracking then! haha

Christmas Fruit Cakes: Ingredients

Melted butter or margarine, for greasing pan
375g pkt mixed dried fruit
100g (1/2 cup, firmly packed) soft brown sugar
110g (1/2 cup) caster sugar
250mls (1 cup) water
50g (2 1/2 tbs) butter or margarine
2 tbs brandy
2 tbs golden syrup
1 tsp vanilla essence
300g (2 cups) self-raising flour, sifted
80g (1/2 cup) whole blanched almonds
3 tbs apricot jam, warmed, strained
Icing Sugar
Mint Leaves (lollies)
Jaffa Chocolates

Method

Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease a 22cm spring form pan with the melted butter or margarine and line the base and sides with non-stick baking paper.
Place mixed dried fruit, soft brown sugar, caster sugar, water and butter or margarine in a saucepan. Bring to the boil, reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 4 minutes. Remove from the heat and add the brandy. Stand for 10 minutes to cool slightly.
Add the golden syrup, vanilla essence and flour to the fruit mixture and stir until well combined. Spoon mixture into prepared spring form pan and decorate the top with the almonds.
Bake in preheated oven for 55 minutes or until top is dark golden and a skewer comes out clean when inserted into the centre of the cake. Remove cake from the oven and brush with the apricot jam while hot.
Wrap the pan in 2 clean tea towels. Cool. Remove the cake from the pan and wrap in foil. Keep in an airtight container for up to 1 week.

Wrap them in cellophane tie them up and add some

Christmas ribbon...makes the cutest side decorations.

Marie-Nicolas Alliot
My name is Marie-Nicolas ALLIOT. On the net, I am also known by the name
of maniscrap. I'm 32 and I live in Normandy, France, with my husband and
four children. My mom taught me from when I was very small to tinker:
sewing, painting, knitting, embroidery ... I love anything creative. I discovered
this hobby in 2007 after the birth of my third son. I had tinkered with his invitations
and scrapbooking papers with my first stamps! Since then, my office has turned
into a scraproom, and my time spent scrapping has increased. I love the escape
it provides me and the meetings through the courses that I teach. It is always
fun to look for new ideas to share. These exchanges bring me a lot!

If I had to define my scrap style in several words I would say: colorful, fun
and happy! I love playing with color, material, ink! I use a lot of these to
stamp and also spray. I love the spots! They bring the fantasy to my layouts.

Hello, I'm Si Alem, I'm a Brazilian, married, have 2 beautiful children and a crazy
Labrador. I'm an architect and I work with residential projects. I've always
enjoyed crafts. I met Scrap in 2005. The hobby grew, I became part of forums,
magazines, and increasingly discovering the enchanted world of Scrap. I met a lot
of nice people. I also like to sew, and that's because of this that I mix paper
and fabric in many projects. Last year, I began teaching and I discovered the
infinite possibilities that give us a comment. My addiction is the stamp,
I love to use on everything I do.

Shell Fowler
My name is Michelle Fowler but, most people call me Shell.
I’m a SAHM to 2 boys living in the beautiful Adelaide Hills South Australia .
I have been scrapbooking for about 4 years and I am lucky enough to have
been published in both Scrapbooking Memories, Scrapbook Creations.
I feel very honoured to have been included on various Design Teams over the years
both as a scrapbooker and a sketch artist. Scrapbooking is definitely my favourite
past time and I love to change things up and try new styles and techniques.
I find it very difficult to describe my style as its always evolving but others have
described it as bright and clean. I love the way scrapbooking allows me to indulge
in my other favourite hobby, photography while creating special keepsakes
for my family. I absolutely love Angies fun and funky designs and I am so
excited and honored to be joining her Design Team

Emily Martina
This fall I am entering my final year as an undergrad with a focus in printmaking at the
Maine College of Art. When I am not in the studio, I can usually be found amidst a
pile of patterned paper, stamps as far as the eye can see, ink pads, lace, ribbons,
punches and of course my trusty ATG. I have been crafting and making art since
I got my first box of Crayola crayons, and I have not turned back since. I started
making cards about two years ago, but I have been a long time scrapbooker and
paper addict. I love Angie’s fun and edgy style, and I am extremely excited to get
to play along with this super talented DT

Simonne Clay
Hi everyone! My name is Simonne but I'm more commonly known as Sem
or SemSee in the blogging and crafting world. I have been cardmaking and
papercrafting since December 2008 and I love it! I'm married to my soul mate
and together we have the most wonderful daughter. My other passion in life
besides my family and papercrafting is the piano. I have played since starting
lessons when I was teeny tiny and have a Bachelor of Arts honours degree
in music. I also love photography and although I only have a very basic digi
camera, I do plan to take some courses and invest in better equipment at some
point in the future! I am super excited to be joining the team here at
Angie Delarie, and can't wait to craft up a storm using her amazing art and products.

Nayda, 25, Brazilian, architect and urban planner, currently do a Master's degree in
the environmental area. I've always been interested in art and design, grew up
watching my mother create beautiful things in the fashion, and she was my main

Planting potatoes?

We are announcing four positions available on our Design Team for Angie Delarie Designs

We usually have 12 Contributing Design Team Members at one time..
We are looking for creative, unique and arty girls (or boys!) to fill Design Team positions, both card makers and scrapbookers can apply.This call is open to international and domestic applicants.

Term length: One year

Design Team Benefits:

You will receive a envelope filled with fabulous products to get you started.
You will receive New acrylic stamps and other products before they are released.
Update emails on what is expected of you each month.
You will receive a $20 store credit for each article published in printed media. Our name must be mentioned in the publication.

Design Team Requirements:

You must have a blog to which you post regularly with a minimum of one posting per week.
A blinkie that shows our logo down the side bar.
You must create a project monthly, posting both to your personal blog and sending a copy to me to submit on the main Angie Delarie Website.
PROJECT HAS TO BE SUBMITTED BEFORE THE 1st OF EVERY MONTH!

Three days down in Albany (overload of photo's)

Its July holidays here in Perth....and to get away for a while we

drove 4 1/2 hour's to get to Albany. We took off at 9am in the morning.

First big town was Williams.

Then we stopped off at Kojonup town

After going through a few smaller towns and then through Mt Barker

(which there is no chicken's cruising through the pub, free range!)

we finally arrived at Albany at 2pm

Since we were only here for a few days..we made the most of it.

We drove around the town then travelled down Frenchman's Bay road

right around to the family rocks on Eclipse Road

Then a little bit further we got to the Gap.

This is two natural features carved from ancient granite

by the forces of nature. It measures a 25 metre sheer drop

to the ocean. Very dangerous point!

Then the Stony Hills road to Jimmy Newhills harbour.

A small protected harbour named after a fisherman

Then to the blowholes which was a 900m walk

Only problem was that there wasn't enough wind for the
blowholes to work. Darn it...

Then we continued to drive to Whaleworld

These whale skeleton's where amazing and huge!

Here is us under the biggest whale jaw bones.

and a little baby whale...so tiny!

Here are the bins where they kept the blubber from the whale

They still smell a bit..but now have movies in each one!

This place was interesting but still disturbing as so many
whales were slaughtered, but it was also a way of living for workers
back then. Then we retired to our Motel we were staying
at Emu Point Motel.

Whale watching...

Poor Jess did so well..but eventually ended up down stairs as she

became very sea sick!

What a day we ended up seeing 31 whales..

the most they have ever seen in a day!

40 tonnes or so jumping out of the water

Mostly we saw Humpbacks as they played in the ocean...

one was even protecting his playmate by slapping his tail in the

water a few times. Just spectacular!

The waters very so clear and beautiful!

Such a character..classic!

If you are ever down in Albany please go see the Albany

Whale Tours...a family owned business and you are well
looked after. We then cruised the town and saw all the sites.

Love this place..wool shed!

I said it was a overload of photo's

The weekends seem to fly past ...and having no kids, it always zooms
extra fast. Saturday I relaxed so much that I went to bed so early.
If you know me...it's so isn't me. I'm usually up till 11pm finishing things
of from my busy schedule. I guess it was so quiet that I could relax for
the day without all the usual noise that happens here.

So I was up extra early this morning...and we cruised down to the block
in Toojay for lunch, where it was so freezing! I think we had our first
winter's day here.... it was so darn cold. Especially standing on the back
of the ute where your fingers were icicles driving along.

They had so much fun running up and down the hill.

The one thing that I was so proud off, was Jess finally had a

go at driving the old ute around the farm. I was so excited

to teach her ...the first ever driving lesson!

Something different for a Saturday...

Hello everyone,
Well today I thought we would try something new..and something that my Dad and I was going to start before he passed away. My Dad was an Mineralogist and he owned a massive mineral collection, that he had collected over many years. I remember Mum and him taking trips to Arizona, for the Mineral Conventions when I was younger and all the trips up north camping in Mine pits.
With so many years having this as his hobby, he eventually found a mineral that hadn't been discovered before, and called it Gartrell- lite named after our surname.

Thinking back about how we were always going to start a small little jewellery business together. I found out about this place here in Perth, that demonstrates step by step, how to make silver jewellery, rock cutting and polishing in the same place...I had to check it out!

My boy Jake has had a passion for this area ...without any influence by others!
Must be in the blood..haha! Here are some snaps I took of all of us learning the techniques.

This is just a quick look at two rocks that we had cut and polished in 2 hours.

Scrapbooking Mix Media Style

I love scrap-booking and I also love painting in my spare time...so when I "you-tubed" this kinda style I was in heaven! So watch out for this style to overcome my scrapbooks from now on...
Here are my latest pages I completed last week...

Documented in time uses my Border and Valentines card (typewriter) tags and the Sunrise acrylic stamp.

Froggie cupcake layout uses Three little speckled frog tags and leaves.

Mixed Media Painting Fun...

As usual the weekend flew past, way too fast, but I did get quite a few things done.

Here is my cute little list..that I achieved.

I'm very happy with the finish mixed media scrapbooking/ stamping project that I did over the long weekend.

Here it is ...I think it turned out just right, but I do need some new supplies

as I'm so loving this style right now.

I need more inks and paints.....to play around with.

My brain is in overload right now...I have been up since 4:30am trying to complete a essay that is due today. Since I'm working all day today, have needed to complete it in the last 3 hours....
Its finally done.... finished.... and gone.
Since I'm hear chatting at 6:30 am Aussie (Perth) time I have been looking into a variety of different ways of scrapbooking. I'm starting to move with the times...this is including a few new areas of interest coming soon.

1. LIVE Scrapbooking classes...coming next month. (so excited)
2. New stamps designs being drawn now..produced in a couple of months.
3. Digital Stamps for those scrappers out there.
4. Digital character 3D Boxes. (One has already arrived...easter bunny) last month just download and print.

Sad day...the end of my drawing class.

I have loved getting up every Friday and driving into Murdoch Uni here in Perth...

as the drawing teacher was amazing and so inspirational that every lesson was thrilling to be in.

Simon Allen which I have talked about before on blogger works for Pixar on movies like Ratatouille, Cars, Toy story Movies..all the ones I love!...we got sneak peeks of new characters and other movie characters like new transformers drawings, and also got a Skype meeting with George Lucas (star wars Creator).

So its a end to my 14 week drawing classes with Simon Allen.

I have always loved animation and he has kinda steered me in that direction.

The weather was shocking on Friday and there even was a mini tornado in Canningvale that morning. I had to drive so slow to get to Uni yesterday..here is a snap out the front of my window!

Loved the drop formation happening!

Our last class was to draw still life and we had a few items on the tables.

Here is what I drew and what it turned out like!

I took snaps of them as my whole portfolio was due yesterday for marking.

This was our last assignment that was due..drawing a bedroom.

I worked on this every night for around 3 hours, for two weeks.

It was very detailed...which u can't see very well.

When it comes back I will take better photos of it!

Getting Down With Nature...

School holiday fun...
Today Mum and us drove to Whiteman Park here in Perth. First time for me, this place was huge and so amazing. I love and adore animals and this was the place to get nice and close with nature with the likes of seeing bats, kangaroos, koala's, bats, dingo's. There were shows on all day...like having your photo taken with this HUGE wombat.

Walking through this huge area that kangaroo's jump around and get feed constantly then sleep. (personally if someone feed me and let me sun bake in the gorgeous sun ...I would be there in a flash!)

The garden's were amazing...

Jake was in control of the map...and where we were going next!

Here are some glimpses of the cute animals I captured! Owls...bats...ring tail possum.

And the amazing koala's...these were my favourites.

If you ever come to Perth you have to come to this place.

I think I will be going to a few more gathering here...more often!

One 1950's photography presentation finished.

It feels so good when you complete an assignment at Uni. This one was a group project produced by Tass, Guy and myself. I wanted to show you what photo's we ended up using. (It actually was a difficult decision)

I baked cupcakes at 11pm the night before to have realistic props. Jessica did so good for a teenager getting up at 4am to do a photo shoot...this was her first as well. EVER!

I curled her hair to look like the 1950's Marilyn Monroe look

Tass and I brought in all different props we could find that suited this time...some were maybe a bit before that time.

But all in all I think that we did a great job!

I hope you enjoy our presentation of the diligent homemaker of the 1950's.

We had a nice two hour drive to Bindoon for the bike drags. On the way we stopped of at the amazing Bindoon Bakery which was very yummy and on the way got pulled over by a police stop, for a breathe test before we continued to the gates. But all in all a very relaxing day!

With a inspirational day at the Beverley Train Station Art Centre, we had artist Neil Elliott show us how to produce an amazing mix media painting on canvas. It was such a relaxing day making art with my Mum by my side...this was her first painting that she has done in a while! very proud of her.

It kind of reminded me of a Emily Falconbridge class I did at SFTH here in Perth.

It was such a delight to come back to Beverley and see the improvements that they have made to the old train station.

It has been years that I haven't been back to my old town that I grew up in. So I took a few snaps of our old farm house...that dates back to a few generations of Gartrells. As you can see the farm is very bare right now. It needs rain...but not too much all at once. We went up there for a Art course at the old Train Station in Beverley. I will show photo's soon of what we made....and show snaps of my Mum.

Life is much more beautiful to me when looking through the camera lens and you see the most beautiful girl in the world> and she belongs to you. This weekend the boys went to the drags here in Perth so I decided to do a girls night for Jess and I.

We adventured to Cottesloe Beach Saturday night thinking that those sculptures will be there still...but I was wrong.

Learning the right way of taking photos at Uni this semester has been so exciting and I will continue to strive to improve each time and continue having fun with photo shoots. I have had quiet a few enquires already for shoots which I'm excited about!

After watching the sunset and having yummy fish and chips what else could you ask for ...a relaxing Saturday night.

Drawing Class: Teacher Information!

My teacher has been in the animation industry for over 19 years, Simon Allen has worked on 16 feature films. Prior to coming to Pixar, Allen worked at Animal Logic as an animator on Happy Feet. He began his career as an animator working at WETA on Peter Jackson's feature film, The Frighteners in 1995. Allen has also worked as an animation supervisor on The Matrix: Revolutions and Constantine, and at LucasArts as an animator for three different games.

Allen joined Pixar Animation Studios in March 2006 as an animator for the Academy Award®-winning feature, Ratatouille. Allen went on to animate on two more Oscar winners, WALL•E and UP and most recently completed working on Disney•

Pixar's 2010 critically acclaimed box office hit, Toy Story 3 where he animated Buzz Lightyear, Woody and many of the original cast from Toy Story. Allen has also animated as well as animating Mater and Lightning McQueen in Mater's Tall Tales.

So you can see why every drawing lesson I love picking his brain's and asking heaps of questions. I've always loved kiddie movies and animation. At the end of this amazing course at University I will get a snap of him before I finish and some autographs. Great for a Art room...

I had a great night last night with my friend Chantelle Jolliffe at His Majesty's Theatre watching her friend Jon Pinder perform at "Raw Comedy night" where 14 of WA's funniest comedian's battle it out for a place in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival's = Very Funny!

I needed a peep me up, and it was like my best friend could sense it!

Who could say no and for a whole night of laughing, yes please!

So here is a tiny bit of video I took of Jon Pinder ..its a bit dark as we were up stairs.

What is happening to me?

The start of this week started out fine.

Jake had started Tae Kwon Do and was loving every minute of it.

This is great news as Jake and footy just wasn't going together very well and this looks more like up his alley.

Here is my drawing homework for: Movement

Wednesday night I had a Quiz that needed to be completed on line.

My computer logged out and I had only answered one question.

I was not a happy person but eventually (after many phone calls)

they put it back up for me.

Thursday night I was trying to get this 2000 word essay completed.

Friday I was at Uni all day. I was going round and round in circles with my ideas, but with a special friend (she knows who she is) I finished it.

Friday at the beginning of our afternoon lecture we got told what we needed to be in our assignment! Were they serious? 1 hour before it was due.

So back to the computer for 30 minutes adding little bits.

Ohh then it gets better...

I'm driving off through the Uni car park and accross South

Street to find my car just stops. What?.....

It starts again just enough to get off this busy 3 lane street.

I think I have ran out of fuel and being a diesel this is not a good idea.

I've had this Land cruiser for 3 weeks and obviously the fuel gauge was wrong as it was still showing heaps of fuel.

2 hours later and it starting up again...no bleeding thank god!

Luckily I didn't have to pick the kids up from school, nannie was there.

Well off I went straight home but being so stressed out went to my Video shop to rent some DVD's. When I went through the check out and she said my account was barred? Are u serious, can this week get any worse?

She mixed it up with my old account...really!

So today I thought that I would get my hair cut and restored to it's chemically induced glory! ...it has been a while and my hair had grown down to my butt.

So that got chopped to my shoulders. I usually love it when u are getting your hair washed at the end and they throw in a little head massage..well no massage for me. She was ripping my hair out all the time (painful)

But it turned out okay....it's not green so that's a good sign!

Friday Drawing Class: Drawing Texture

This was a dried clam shell that I used to draw texture.

It took 2 1/2 hours to draw but I think it's starting to get there!

The shell was complex in detail but I think the highlights and the ridges

are starting to form nicely.

I love doing show and tell here...

Friday Drawing Class: Tiki Mug Toy Story 3 Character Designs!

Okay ...

I have the best ever drawing teacher at Uni.

Every time I talk to Simon, I'm mesmerised at what he has achieved in his life time so far. Last weeks drawing class we had this amazing tiki mug that was given to him for being part of the Toy Story 3 crew member by Pixar director Lee Unkrich.

The two-sided mug features a faux-wood carved Buzz Lightyear on one side and Woody on the other.

I'm trying to finish off my drawings of them right now.

I just love that someone came up with this amazing idea for a great gift!

Thursday we decided to go away for the weekend. Here it's about a three hour drive to some of the most amazing beaches. The feel of these places brings you to relaxation bliss and we didn't want to leave today.

This week we were asked to draw a sunset...

Here is mine...just completed.

Sorry about the light reflecting off the left side ..its starting to get dark right now.

I adore the stamps that Marie makes at the Greeting Farm Company.
They are quirky and have so much personality...so me!
So I have found a great Aussie site that sells them..and I have just bought two cute girl characters to add to my stamp collection!

                     I also can't wait to bring out my own character stamps very soon!
                               Can't wait for them to arrive...they are the sweetest!

Drawing on a Monday Rainy Night!

Well the heat today was again unbearable and extremely hot and sweaty.
I was sweating in places that I never knew existed. DISGUSTING!!!!
So once I came home I put all the airconds full blast...then the darkened clouds floated across the skies to revealed what every Perth person wanted for the last month...RAIN!

Now the rain has disappeared the stickiness has returned...ready for sleep time!yahh

Before I go ...I wanted to show you my homework for my drawing class at Uni.

We had to use shading and contrast...I think he looks good for my first ever project.

Hi everyone
Right now I'm trying to get stuck into a painting session on wooden canvas's. I have incorporated scrapbooking and painting together to form something that hopefully intrigues the imagination...
Every year I try and submit paintings into the Beverley Art Gallery which happens at Easter time each year. Every year I fail with not enough time allocated to finish them off but this year it's different ...I have put it into my weekly planner and gave myself a DEADLINE...
Here are some sneak peeks at how it's going.

I was trying to find the beginning of the canvas shots...no where to be seen...but I will continue to search for them!

She is starting to turn out really nicely..this is probably only half finish. So as you can tell I have a lot of work ahead of me before mid March.

I've started to get lost in the last few weeks back at work and Uni...and as you can see not blogged! My timetable is so hectic this semester but I'm trying to get hold of it with both hands.
News:
First up one amazing scrapbooking layout by Leena Loh using my "Baby Jumpsuits paper embellishments tags".

Second: This cute little layout by Daniela Marques using my "Movie night paper embellishments tags".

Third: One of my design team girls "Roberta" makes the most cutest, adorablist and simply sweetest toys lately...that are just to die for!

Happy Valentines Day to Everyone...

I hope everyone had a special day filled with LOVE on the 14th...This day 11 years ago I proposed to my husband after a car run...
so the 14th is a very important day that I love. On the weekend I wanted to make a small gifts to all my work colleagues. What better gift than hand made chocolate hearts. 70 hearts later...and I think they turned out pretty cute!

Did anyone else get a little pressie from fellow friends this year?

Black Sunday: Rolystone/ Kelmscott Fires....6 February 2011

It was a Black Sunday here in Perth this weekend.

A firefighter has been injured . The Rolystone/ Kelmscott bushfire is still burning out of control in the Perth hills it has destroyed 41 properties and damaged a further 19 partially damaged, Numbers could increase with time. A firefighter has been injured as well. The bushfire emergency warning remains in place for people in the south-western part of Roleystone and south-eastern part

of Kelmscott in the City of Armadale.

I feel really lucky as I live in Armadale, just far enough from the fire..

but the fire is only a 5 minute drive from my house.

The smoke was thick there for a while and in the morning we drove to Wanneroo to go motorbike riding and went past the other fire North of Perth. I think we ended up with five fires around Perth Yesterday which is devastating. Here are a sneak peek at the fires through You- tube videos that others have put up.

Choppers refilling the water tanks down the road at Champion Lakes (down the road) you can see how windy it is right now in Perth. Winds of 70- 100km!

The evacuation relocation is just a couple of streets away from me..so when we finished school today and came home I could see the choppers coming right over our house. This means that they were re-fueling at the oval two streets away. I took the kids down to take snaps of the amazing "Cougar" chopper and chat to the pilot and to congratulate a job well done so far!

Last photo is off the oval, you can just see the blue of the "Cougar" Chopper on the right. They all ended up landing and refueling here. I just can't believe how much devastation this fire has caused and I hope that with the winds start dying down tonight so the fire can be brought under control. I will walk down to the Arena where all the evacuees have been sleeping for a night already to see if I can help in anyway.
